DJ Entertainment: ( Wedding Tips)

We understand that you probably do not shop for a DJ on a regular basis, so we would like to be able to help you as much as we can to make the process of selecting a disc-jockey as fun and as painless as possible. Here are some suggested questions to ask when shopping around:

1. How long have you been in business?
Are they just starting out or do they have several years of experience that will reflect in their performance?

2. How many disc-jockeys do you have?
A company’s size often reflects in the reliability of the product. If there is just one disc-jockey, what happens if he becomes ill or is involved in an accident?

3. How would I be able to select the music?
This is extremely important. It is your function, you should hear music that YOU want to hear, not what the disc-jockey THINKS you want to hear. What procedure does the company have for you to let them know what music you want played? Also, do you take requests at the function?

4. What is your backup or emergency plan should a problem occur?
Problems arise, there is no away around that. But what type of plan does the company have to combat such problems, such as equipment failure, or the dj being involved in a car accident on the way to your show?

5. Are your DJs employees or are they contracted from another source?
When DJs are employees of the company, there is often a tighter control on the way they are trained and the way they will supply service to you. They will use company equipment and music, and will follow the procedures of the company. If they are a sub-contractor, what basically happens is a booking agency calls on one of many smaller companys to do the work.

6. What type of functions do you do mostly?
Does the company do many of the type of functions that you are having? For example, if you’re getting married, ask if the company does a lot of weddings and can they execute all of the events that happen at a reception. If they do mostly school dances throughout the year, will they know how to explain and execute a dollar dance at a wedding?

7. Have you ever played at.....?
(Name your function location) If the DJ has already played at the location of your function, he should already be familiar with acoustics, load-in procedures, and management of the location. Click here to see where we have played.

8. Do you have a demonstration video we can view?
Is there a way that you can view the service before signing an agreement? Most functions are private and therefore it is sometimes difficult to get invited to a private function just to view the disc-jockey. Would you want outsiders showing up to your function just to view the disc-jockey? A downloadable demo will be coming soon!
